Breakfast always
taste better when caravanning especially in the
countryside surrounding Helston. Of course there
is also the other end of the day when you just sit
and relax with a G&T whilst watching the sun
go down.
Just outside Helston is Penrose Park, in
the care of the national Trust. Whilst the main
house is occupied by the Rogers Family and is not
open to the public, the grounds are. There is a
pleasant walk through the grounds with the path
running past the main house with its walled garden
before routing itself past the coach house and on
into the woods. The path follows the edge of Loe
Pool, the largest natural freshwater lake in Cornwall
and onwards to Low Bar and the sea.
On the far side of the Bar you will see a memorial
cross commemorating the wreck of HMS Anson with
the loss of many lives. There is an e-book written
on this subject detailing the Anson’s history
and the part it played in the development of Porthleven’s
Harbour. Caravanning
near Helston has much to offer
as you can see so why not come and visit us. |
